Sometimes a set back can bring forth positive change. A Decorating Den Interiors designer turned a disastrous fire into an opportunity for her clients to have the home of their dreams. The most important thing salvaged from the fire was a pastel drawing given to them by their daughter. This treasured work of art influenced the family room’s new serene icy blue and taupe color palette.
The furniture and accessories selected under the direction of their decorator are a composite of classic, comfortable and 
contemporary, which meet the husband’s conservative preferences and the wife’s more glitzy contemporary style. Within the vast sources Dec Den decorators have at their disposal, our decorator was able to find suitable upholstered pieces and tables, along with an array of complementary accents. One of the decorator’s recommendations was to coat the red brick fireplace with a neutral paint color. At first the clients were reluctant to make the change, but once they saw how it opened up the room they were glad they had followed her advice.
Note the how the decorator contrasted the subtle curves of the armchairs, their circular print design, the round tables, and the sculptural arabesque shape of the lamp with the straight lines of the striped rectangular rug and the tailored window treatment. For the latter, she chose a sumptuous embroidered iridescent fabric for the drapery panels,
and extra-wide narrow blinds to address the practical issues of privacy and sun control.
The crowning jewel of the space is the mirrored console table.
Above it hangs a new piece of art that is in keeping with the established soothing colors and refined theme of the room.
Like the phoenix rising, this family room came back from the ashes revived beyond the client’s dreams, a tribute to the design ability and resourcefulness of their Decorating Den interior decorator.
