Designer Karen Booraem recently enjoyed an evening with her two daughters at the Century Club in Syracuse, NY. The Century Club was founded in 1897 and has become a Syracuse institution. The evening featured Syracuse native Thom Filicia. Thom was “discovered” when he was the designer for the hit show “Queer eye for the Straight Guy”. However, he was an established designer long before the show. Club members were invited to share in a lovely cocktail hour, a fabulous sit down dinner and a presentation from Thom.
Thom spoke about his television work, popular design book and shared some of the incredible homes he has designed and decorated. Thom also showed some pieces from his Vanguard furniture line. It was great fun for the members to see the furniture collection whose pieces are named for various towns and landmarks in the Syracuse area. “The Century Chair” (named after the club of course) was the groups favorite
